Auto Draft

  • 17 Medjoul Dates (moist variety)
  • 1 Cup Red Wine
  • 1 Cup Grape Juice
  • 3 Large Crisp Apples - macintosh type works best- cored and coarsely chopped - I don't peel the apples
  • 2 Cups Ground Nuts -I use a combination of walnuts and almonds
  • 1 1/2 Cups of Moist Raisins
  • 2 TBSP Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 TSP Ground Dried Ginger
  • 1/2 TSP Ground Cloves
  • 1 TSP Black Pepper
  • 1 TSP Ground Cardamom

  • Add the liquids and dates and raisins to your food processor and start processing.
  • Add the apples
  • Add the spices.
  • Taste.
  • Add more wine or grape juice or even spices if you like it with more zing!
  • If you are preparing this ahead, you may need to add a small amount of juice or wine to thin the spread as it thickens over time.
  • This lasts 2 weeks in your fridge and much longer in your freezer.
