Fish Balls In Tomato Sauce


  • The Sauce
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1hgvg 1/2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine grain sea salt
  • 3 medigum cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 28-ounce can crushed red tomatoes
  • For the fish balls:
  • 1 llb (500 g) ground white fish
  • 3 tablespoons whole grain bread crumbs - if fish holds together, you can use 2 tablespoons instead.
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ⅛ tsp nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ Cup minced parsley and or dill
  • lemon zest of one lemon


  • The Sauce
  • Preheat a deep wide saucepan on a medium flame for about 1 min.
  • Coat the bottom of the preheated pan with oil add the garlic red pepper flakes till fragrant- but not allowing the garlic to burn.
  • Add the crushed tomatoes
  • Lower the flame and simmer the sauce.
  • Cook the Fish
  • Mix fish ingredients together gently - don't over handle.
  • Form the raw fish combination into balls about the size of a ping pong ball.
  • Drop them one at a time into the sauce and simmer for about 20-25 minutes,.


Are you in a rush? Just buy a good quality sauce. Simmer that, and go put together the fish balls.
